Muddy and dusty shoes will have a difficult time voting in Nairobi in the coming elections, Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has claimed. He will allow those with ‘raw sewage and gabbage dirt though.(Read Kibera, Kariobangi, Mathare)

This comes after Kidero claimed that his opponents were busy sourcing voters from neighbouring ‘muddy and dusty’ counties to make sure he loses the 2017 gubernatorial race.

Kidero who was addressing a church congregation in Kariobangi on August 14, also alleged that National Youth Service personnel were registered by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to vote for his rivals.

“We know where they come from, but I want to warn them that on voting day, we will inspect their shoes. And we will identify those with dusty and muddy shoes. We will do this until late in the evening and when we get them, they will be hounded out,” said Kidero amidst ululation from the faithful.

The governor said the imported’ voters will be identified by their physical appearances as the city residents are not dirty.

He added that,“In Nairobi we have tarmacked roads, we don’t have mud and dust. They are bringing people here to vote the way they brought another one to vie for governorship in Nairobi.”
